Guild of Thieves: Acquisition Magic
Sockus Stealus

Incantation
Left foot. Right foot.
One of them is mine now.
The pair is broken forever.
The dryer will be blamed.
SOCK.
- Crime
- Steals one single sock and parades it around like a trophy.
- Casting time
- The exact moment the laundry basket is left unguarded
- Mana cost
- 1 warm sock, 1 victory lap, and 0 intention of ever giving it back
Laundry day. You match every pair, line them up like little soldiers, and turn around for one second. When you turn back, a sock has deserted. Just one. Never both.
From the hallway comes a proud, muffled mrrrow. Here comes the tiny wizard, hat tilted, dragging the sock behind them like a dragon they defeated single-pawed. They drop it at your feet and wait, sparkly eyes huge, for the parade in their honor.
The other sock stays in the basket forever, waiting for a partner who now belongs to the cat. This is the cruelest part of the spell, and also the cutest.
Counter-spell
1. Offer 'prey' they are allowed to carry, like a kicker toy or a sock-sized plush.
2. Keep laundry in a lidded hamper, and the spell loses its favorite ingredient.
3. Trade instead of chase: swap the stolen item for a toy or treat so it does not become a game of tag.
4. A short daily play session that ends in a 'catch' helps the hunting instinct feel finished.
