Fears & Dramatics: Theatrical Illusions
Doorus Closedus Screamus
Incantation
The door is closed.
I must go through it.
The door is open.
I no longer care.
MEOW.
- Crime
- Yells at a closed door, then walks away when you open it.
- Casting time
- Every 4 minutes, all day
- Mana cost
- 1 closed door, 1 open door, and 0 intention of going through either
The Spellbook describes the scene like this: our tiny wizard cat, yelling at a closed door, then the same door open with the cat walking away uninterested. Casting time: every 4 minutes, all day.
The door must open. The door opens. The cat, having won, loses all interest. The mana bill arrives right on schedule: 1 closed door, 1 open door, and 0 intention of going through either.
The cat considers this a total success and takes a celebratory nap.
Counter-spell
1. Pick a door policy, open or closed, and stick to it.
2. Try not to open the door in response to yelling, or the spell gets stronger.
3. Offer play and attention at other times so the door is less interesting.
4. A cat flap or doorstop can end the standoff for some rooms.
